This newsletter outlines the third-quarter activities and initiatives of the Grassroots Researchers Association (GRA) and its partners from July to September 2026 (Volume 10, Issue 3), focusing on climate resilience, conflict prevention, public health responses, and community engagement.
Key highlights include:
UNDEF-Funded Initiative Launch: In July 2026, GRA officially launched the project “Empowering Women for Climate Resilience and Conflict Prevention in Plateau State, Nigeria” in partnership with the PACE Initiative across Farin Gada, Angwan Rogo, Anglo-Jos, and Bukuru.
Baseline Survey & Mapping: GRA initiated community entry engagements and a comprehensive mixed-methods baseline survey targeting 516 respondents using Kobo Collect and Key Informant Interviews.
Diphtheria Outbreak & Public Health Response: Following a local diphtheria outbreak, GRA rapidly deployed safety protocols, distributed PPE and hand sanitizers to field staff, and integrated public health awareness into community mobilizations.
GBV Sub-Sector Awareness: On September 8, 2026, GRA collaborated with GBV Sub-Sector partners in Adamawa State to conduct awareness campaigns in Jambutu, Boronji, and Mbamba Mission, promoting formal legal and medical channels over informal dispute resolutions.
Stakeholder Engagements & HDP Nexus: GRA paid a formal courtesy visit to the Bukuru District Head and Council of Chiefs on September 15, 2026, and participated in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus Community of Practice engagement at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola on September 21, 2026.
